THE CLADDAGH STORY (continued...)
Claddagh rings were traditionally worn by the women of Claddagh
when their fisherman husbands and loved ones set off on a fishing
trip in the dangerous waters of the Atlantic
Ocean. They were also worn as wedding bands. The clasped hands of
Claddagh symbolise friendship, with the heart in the centre symbolising
love and the crown, loyalty. According to some, the Claddagh only
symbolises love if the heart is worn with the point facing inwards.
